UV Printing and Coating
UV printing is a technique that utilizes ultraviolet (UV) light to dry and cure the ink onto the paper packaging. UV inks are specially designed to be cured when exposed to UV light, allowing for faster & more efficient printing.
This printing method is often used to produce vibrant colors and sharp images. Thus, ideal for printing on paper packaging materials. It also provides a durable finish that is resistant to water and other environmental factors. Resulting in a last longer print than traditional printing methods.
At XIECHEN, UV printing is becoming increasingly popular for paper packaging. A low-cost printing solution that offers high-quality results.
UV Printing Process
- Our team start by preparing the paper printing substrate. We ensure that it is clean, dry, and free of dust & dirt.
- Preparing the ink. We mix it to the desired color and viscosity.
- Set up the printer. We load the substrate onto the bed and set the printing parameters.
- Print the artwork onto the substrate using the UV printing process.
- Cure the printed artwork by exposing it to ultraviolet (UV) light.
- Inspect the printed artwork for accuracy and quality.
- Package the printed product for shipment.

UV Printing Advantages
- Vivid color – UV printing technology can provide vibrant colors that can make a big impact on your packaging design.
- Durability – This process is a durable & long-lasting printing method that helps to protect your packaging from fading/damage.
- Waterproof – UV printing is a waterproof printing method, ideal for paper packaging that needs to withstand moisture.
- Eco-friendly – An environmentally friendly printing method that doesn’t use any solvent-based inks or other toxic materials that can harm the environment.
- Cost-effective – A cost-effective printing method that can help you save money on your packaging design costs.
UV Coating
UV Coating is a process used to give the paper a glossy finish.
First, an ultraviolet (UV) curable coating is applied to the paper. The coating is either applied by a roller or a spray gun. In order to cure the coating, the paper is exposed to UV light. As the coating cures, it bonds with the paper. Thus, it creates a protective layer that resists wear and tear.
The UV coating process provides protection from dirt, dust, & moisture. It also helps to preserve the color and vibrancy of the paper. Aside from that, the UV coating process makes the paper packaging more resistant to tearing and ripping. After the coating is cured, the paper packaging is then ready for use.

UV Coating Types

XIECHEN offers an all-over UV coating that’s applied to the entire paper printing surface. The gloss level is super high, and it can even replace traditional glossy laminating. Not only that, but it also provides excellent protection and a really nice tactile experience on the printed surface.
So if you want your prints to look and feel amazing, you might want to check out some UV varnishes!

Unlike all-over UV coating, spot UV varnishes are only applied to specific areas of the printing surface to really make certain texts or images pop – especially your logo.
